In cooperation with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the Distance Learning department has extended its services to the state’s department of education. Coastline Community College offers distance learning courses that lead to an associate of arts degree in American Studies, Arts and Humanities, Business, Sociology, Social and Behavior Sciences, or Science and Math. Students can also obtain a Certificate of Achievement with a concentration in General Business. The distance learning courses offered to incarcerated individuals are called telecourses, which is a combination of correspondence courses and being able to view course video lessons. Services to incarcerated students have extended nation-wide and now include federal prisons, youth authority facilities, conservation camps, and out-of-state prisons.
